Mouse Guard Pin-up Part 3: Flats

So here I am at the end of the day. Unfortunately because of school, homework and other projects I'm not sure how far I'll be getting with this over the next several weeks. I'll try my best to do a little at a time whenever I have the chance. Hopefully everybody likes what they see so far.

Mouse Guard Pin-up Part 2: Inks

So here's the completed inks with a little help from PhotoShop. The drawing was traditionally inked with Kuretake and Pitt pigment pens and a Pentel brush pen. I however decided to do the background in Photoshop because I felt it looked a lot cleaner than the one I inked myself. Once again I'm really trying to go with an Art Nouveau look here so thats why the figure has that thick outline around it. Now onto colors which should be interesting because I'm a tad bit new to PhotoShop. Luckily I have a friend from school coloring this as well and she definitely knows what she's doing. Mouse Guard Pin-up Part 1: Pencils

This is a mouse I wouldn't want to f*ck with.

I kind of fell out of love with comics right around the time of Marvel's Civil War story and hadn't read a comic since, until I accidentally came across the Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 and I have been hooked ever since. I have even started going back to my old comic store and was surprised they remembered me after so long. I love how a comic like the Mouse Guard doesn't need spandex-cladded heroes and villains to be successful. It gives someone like me a little glimmer of hope. So to show my appreciation and enthusiasm for the book I got started on a piece of Mouse Guard artwork. The original illustration was done in a sketchbook one morning while having my usual coffee and waffles for breakfast, later I scanned, enlarged and traced on to a sheet of Strathmore 9x12 bristol. I wanted to give it an art nouveau look because I'm a fan of the style and would like to start incorporating more of it in my artwork. I'm going to see if I can touch-up the framing in PhotoShop to give it a cleaner look.
